How 吗 is used
Turns a statement into a yes/no question. Nothing else changes — same word order, no rising tone needed.
你有课。→ 你有课吗？
他是老师。→ 他是老师吗？
Chinese has no word for yes or no. You answer by repeating the verb: 有 / 没有, 是 / 不是.
